How To Spice Up Your Dorm Room

We have all been through the college freshman phase of living in a jail cell dorm room. (If you got to avoid that, I am super jealous). As I have passed my freshman year of college, and miss it dearly, I have slowly learned cool tricks to make your dorm room (or room in general) look & feel a little more like home.

First off, lighting is the most important. As you can see, that light on the wall is off and it stays off most of the time. I did that because it's fluorescent and it's just not a flattering color. Instead, I bought my own lamp from Target for $15 bucks! It's really cute and makes the lighting in the room much more relaxing.

Next, I added pictures on the wall. This is probably the easiest to do. I just found some pictures off my Facebook of me and my friends and printed them out. Rite Aid and Wal-Mart are great places to get pictures printed - they are less expensive than a photo store. Stick them on the wall and bam! Instant decorations. If you want to get more into it you can do something like this.

Another thing I just NEEDED to have was a wall tapestry. It's such a great way to get rid of a boring white wall.  Sometimes it's hard to find tapestries and it can get annoying to order them offline (mine is a gift from a friend from Costa Rica). One of my friends found that instead of ordering an actual tapestry you can find cool patterned sheer scarves and hang them up and it looks just the same!

My room would certainly not be complete without the white Christmas lights. I really don't care that it's not Christmas anymore! I love my lights and they make me happy at night when I'm relaxing after a long day.

One thing that I've been meaning to add to my room is more pillows. I love the way a bed looks when there's a bunch of soft pillows that just make it look like a big cloud of comfy :)

Have a fabulous day xo

If any of you out there have that big cloud of comfy pillows where did you get your pillows from? I would love to hear about it!
